EROS: Teaching what divine love can be...By Expressia

Who is Eros, and why should we care?  With 40-50 percent of all married couples divorcing, it is time for this genius to prevent this issue in the future.  Eros teachings are needed so desperately for the youth that will become a teenage wasteland and the world a Fisher King Castle.  So I must stand up and do what I can to reawaken the true meanings of mythos and prevent future problems.  Learn this my children before you marry because there is nothing worse than being married to someone you don't belong with or love like Eros loves.  Two souls cannot join because they don't belong together, and yes it takes time.  I am not going to preach abstinence or talk about duty.  I am going to give you a path that leads to the unifying power of truth and love.  Eros is as difficult to explain as wisdom was for Solomon, so bear with me and read on.  Follow the truth of your heart and you will be rewarded.

We are going to use a Greek platform for Eros, with a few modern differences.  We don't want the watered down version of erotic love and lust.  We desire the truth in all its beauty.  We will not denigrate the God Eros but lift it up to its rightful place by teaching what reality is and how God or Love is like ultimate reality.  If Eros was once worshipped, he must be important.  Important enough for us to tune into and hear his message.
Who is my brother Eros?  "Before the seas were flowed, and before the mountains rose, Eros existed as primal, unconditional love that gave birth to the universe." He gives rise to the pleasure and pain of love, initiating one into what were called the Eleusynian mysteries.  We often see him portrayed as a chubby laughing cupid, a handsome youth or a full grown man, said to be unborn.  He was there in the beginning and will be there in the end and existing even when Gaia and Chaos were born as well as the other primordial gods.  Aristotle states that Eros "was the first of the gods to spring from the world egg."  Could it be this philosophers stone we seek on our grail quest?  That divine healer and immortal elixir of life?  What is the experience like-Other than wanting to die; let me explain his energy.
It will begin with a remembrance, an echo of world experience, and essential connection that flows and forms.  An urge toward primordial existence beyond our usual realm or condition.  It is an original form that all functions should follow.  We are brought to the experience and realization of real love and all its dimensions.  The energy is a presence that ascends with us like a god being with us.  The essence is divine and I will describe it with a passage from the Song of Solomon
"Love is as strong as death, jealousy as fierce as the grave. It's flashes are flashes of fire, the
very flame of the Lord.  Many waters cannot quench love,  neither can floods drown it."
(Song of Solomon, NIV, 8:6:7, c1973)
The energy begins as a desperate longing for intimacy, understanding, and wholeness based on the awareness of what a person is lacking.  When shame is around, true intimacy is blocked, so work is done to remove this shame where Eros or divine love can exist.  Eros is a wild, passionate, fiery and fierce force or life energy.  Eventually it will give rise to pleasure, but beware, it can also cause some emotional pain and suffering.  The ancient greeks referred to it as Theia Mania or divine madness inspired by the Gods.  Socrates describes the experience like this,"love and desire are an emptiness.  It requires one to say what they believe, and others think them a fool or mad."  He stated it as an ascent in the company of a god.  Which reminds one of the alchemical ascension like the ascending and descending of the prima materia.  This love is a fundamental principle that holds the universe together; every atom, molecule, and air.  It attracts spirit and matter together.  The experience is felt as an opening to the world of passion, desire and intense relating that brings life and unity.  I describe it as Ikigai, a reason for being.  A person will begin to concentrate on I desire, instead of,  I have.  The need for security (belongings, possession) gives way to a need for something more fundamental and cures a wasteland.  There is a mission to fulfill.
How does it feel to be struck by Eros arrow?  Everyone will have a unique experience but some basics may include emotional suffering, suicidal thoughts, pain, ecstasy and every emotion on the rainbows gambit, above and below.  I can say from experience that the end of the journey and soul searching and intense suffering, you will know its real.  The experience of truth so profound you cannot deny its ultimate reality.  The lovesickness is a reality and one must be ready to be seen as a fool, a fool with nothing to loose and everything to gain.  You don't awaken this love before its time because it can have tragic consequences if one is not strong enough to overcome the hurt it could cause.  Love requires this, but it is worth it, every ounce of energy you put into it.  I will quote Plato on the process of Eros, "it can lead to divinity, but divinity cannot lead to Eros."  Even gods are subject to his fiery arrows.  This is where a willingness to empty oneself (especially of shame or human wisdom) is paramount.  Then one can be refilled or reborn.  Perhaps Dionysius comes into play here unexpectedly?  It sounds like Jesus changing water to wine.
The best direction for this chaotic madness is using its inspiration to create.  Great works have been inspired by Eros in this alchemical transformative state.  On the other hand, great wars such as the Trojan war are also inspired by Eros.  It functions best in magical encounters of sudden or compulsive and erotic intimacy and the creative designs and poetic inspiration can achieve heights of unknown results.  So when in love and in waiting, get creative in order to reap the pleasurable benefit.  Beware but be open and again let me quote King Solomon,

"Let my lover come into his garden and taste its choice fruits.  I have come into my garden, my sister, my bride. (A spiritual sister and a material bride an alchemical wife)  I have gathered my myrrh with my spice.  I have eaten my honeycomb and honey, drunk my milk and my wine."  (Song of Solomon, NIV, c1973)

Eros can assist the soul to remember beauty and purity as well as contributing to an understanding of the truth.  Love also begets a desire for immortality and search for this elixir.   The experience is Epic even if inspiring delusion or fantasy.  For fantasy is the origin of social urgings.  Two go together, one of them knowing before the other and begins creation out of the desire to merge and blend.  It is the nature of Erotic love to transform its participants in accordance with their own disposition.  No other life even can match it, why do we not speak of this, study it, question it, beleive it, see it?  Or most important why do we not instruct in the art of love?  Instead we lay down law upon law and rule upon rule putting conditions on things that cannot exist in dead?  Two bodies can share one soul in Eros, no other life event can match it, no other life form can have it except human and god.  They are one force, originally so.  Isn't this marriage that creates eternal desire what we all wish for?  Who wants secure law when we could have a garden of delights and pleasures?  To view an eternal love that creates an immortal soul?  I tell you, this is why the Twilight Saga was a popular cultural phenomena.  We want this, if we speak sincere truth, and we believe it and in it, through it all things are possible.  The world is refreshed and renewed and life is its fruit.  It is from above, divine and from the Creator.  It is our inheritance and how can we claim what we do not know of?

Eros is my brother and this is his message.  Please keep searching him out and I hope you find him when your ready.  But please use this as a basis for making wise decisions when it comes to major life choices such as having sex or getting married for the first time.  Don't deny Eros its proper place, that you may live and live abundantly with joy and happiness.  This is the Father's will for all of you.
