Dehumanizing our Educational System

High Stakes Testing

High stakes testing is nothing more than a measure, equation, or number that dehumanizes every student and employee in our public school system.  A system that only teaches a student to be a good citizen and not a creative and free thinker.  An equation is perfectly balanced; resulting in net movement of 0; what is being produced?  An illusion.  This is a false tower that only sees results as numbers that are equal all the way around and therefore solved.  When did anyone in any educational setting ever learn from solved problems and no way to think for themselves?  Not one person can learn anything from this because the thinking is flatlined or dead.  This practice worked well for the Nazi government in 1930 because it failed to appreciate the difference, the flaw, and the separate learning styles that need to be tailored to each classroom group.  As people and humans we are born to make error and that is how a person learns.  Being punished for this is intolerable cruelty.

I ask where is the product of the creative thinker?  Well, we don't have money for art class, philosophy, or things that don't measure up.  This type of teaching will only result in people who will think like zombies and never creatively prevent a problem which is the career of the genius.  When you create a classroom of sterile pure facts, you create a prison from which it is hard to realase the soul or mind to create original solutions or prevent larger issues from becoming worse.  We return to a dark age of Tyranny that has no room for the artist, singer, musician, and other students or teachers because the whole basis of the system is flawed.  Measuring and punishing were why our Forefathers  fled Europe and begot America and here we are progressing backwards instead of forward.

Measures and weights only limit your geometry, boring your students (especially female students), to the point where they become apathetic about their education.  No longer do they read, create, or write.  Our children cannot read their own Constitution because they cannot read or decipher cursive writing.  

My my educational experience was sorely lacking in quality.  I remember walking away from all education hungry and starving for something that was sorely missing.   It was a hunger that could not be satisfied by weights and measures, it was as though I were intellectually and mentally dead.  Each one of us is a unique person who learns at their own pace on their own level, which no measurement or accountability can ever assist.  Being punished and outcasted in school due to lack of caring was not even enough to motivate me to succeed to that 12 inch ruler who cheated me out of a quality education.  I couldn't move and had become a tower that needed destroyed.  Once I took responsibility for ganging knowledge on my own, I had become wiser and more intelligent; but the best result, was the result that I could do it my way and it suited me.  I don't need a tyrant to tell me how to be a good student.  I don't need to be held accountable, I need to be free and liberated from dogma.  We all have the right to freedom and we all must individually take responsibility for the direction of our own education.  Therefore, weights and measures become irelavent and we all become more self sufficient.

The cure for this is to tailor the education to help the students produce whatever it is they want to produce with less legal defining and controlling measures.  For example in Science class I find that using a book about the mystical or magical properties of herbs makes  plant biology more fun for the students and it becomes participation and joy.  The group is sent on an adventure and they begin to learn.  I am not teaching, I am observing my class and as they hunt for fairies in the field, they learn that some tree is a fig while another is an oak and how to identify their natural world.  No-one can measure this because it is priceless and it is creative.  This example is a solution and prevention to what is lacking in our education, the human experience.
